Brief outline of school's history.
On September 9th 1983, the Grenville Secondary School came into being as Jeremiah Richardson secondary School,
with 116 students and 6 staff members. Mr. Stephen Wall was the first principal while Mrs. R. Reuben, D. Beggs, E. Samuel
and Misses E. Charles and P. Scoon were first teachers appointed by the Ministry of Education to start the school.
At the end of the first month, there were 186 students enrolled; 46 of these were transferred to us from St. Andrew's Junior Secondary School after passing an examination set by the us, and the remainder comprised students who passed the school leaving exams, or came to us on transfer from other secondary schools.
Misses L. Bubb and D. Roberts joined the staff on the 15th of the same year.
Mrs. S Campbell and Mr. C. Mc Intyre of the Junior Secondary School were asked to teach Home economics and Industrial Arts respectively to our students.
By the end of the 1st term, all major structures for a secondary school were put in place. The Deanery System, Student's Council, subject committees and departments, the school's code, record books, PTA, House systems, monthly general knowledge contests and extra-curricular programme of 10 clubs and societies were established.
The uniform, which is worn, was designed by a committee of parents: Mrs. W. Strachan (deceased), Mrs. E. Fortune, Mrs. M. Lalitte, Mrs A. Mark and Miss F. Alexander.
